Tyrone A. Brown is a retired 20-year U.S. Navy veteran, retired federal government executive, former Dumfries Town Council member, nonprofit leader, and community advocate. Throughout his career, he has built his approach to leadership around accountability, preparation, teamwork, and a commitment to the people he serves.

A record of service to Dumfries
Brown was elected to the Dumfries Town Council in 2020 and served a four-year term. During that time, he gained firsthand experience with the opportunities and challenges facing the Town and developed an even deeper appreciation for the responsibility that comes with representing its residents.
At the end of his term, Brown chose not to seek reelection. The decision was not a departure from his commitment to Dumfries. At the time, he was balancing the demands of public service and his federal career with an even more important responsibility at home—helping provide hospice care for his mother-in-law.
His plan was to complete his federal career and return as a candidate for Town Council in 2028, when he expected to have more time to dedicate to public service.
Following his mother-in-law's passing in 2024, Brown reassessed those plans. He ultimately decided to retire from federal service two years earlier than planned, giving him the opportunity to devote more of his time and experience to Dumfries.
Rather than waiting until 2028, Brown has decided to answer the call to serve now.
